Recession  
'spreading'

Factory production was down by eight-tenths of 1 per- cent in September, and the Federal Reserve Board sees the second straight month of de- cline as "another sign that the recession is spreading." Re- ductions in industrial output were widespread by major types of goods and by indus- try. The decline is the same as in July 1980, during the depth of last year's recession.
